Flowers, chocolates, jewelry… We all want to show the people in our lives that we love them, but not only are classic Valentine’s plans expensive, they also often mean buying things that are often bad for people and the environment. We think that having an adventure together is a way better way to share the love this Valentine’s Day. Whether you’ll be joined by your sweetheart, bestie, mom, or even a furry-friend, spending time with loved ones is what V-Day is all about! To help you celebrate, here’s our list of 5 eco-friendly Valentine’s activities to do together in Southern California:
Sea Kayaking in La Jolla
If you’re feeling adventurous, take a guided sea kayaking tour in beautiful La Jolla to check out the sea caves. Grab a tandem kayak for you and a friend, explore the pristine area, and say hello to the sea creatures. You are in for an awesome experience.
If you’re in Los Angeles, take the scenic route and go for an easy bike ride along the coastal strand. The Marvin Braude Bike Trail (the strand) is a 22-mile bike path that connects many of L.A.’s best beaches and offers a nice flat ride. Delicious restaurants border the strand if you want to grab some food or drinks. Grab your best friend and some bikes and enjoy the view of the coast as well as great people watching.
Hiking San Diego’s Potato Chip Rock
If you’re looking for a more active activity to get that heart pumping, visit the iconic Potato Chip Rock in Northern San Diego. Potato Chip Rock via Mount Woodson trail is a 7.5 mile out and back trail located near Poway, California that features views of a beautiful lake. The trail is rated as moderate. There is a great scenic route leading up to a unique rock, jutting out over a great view that looks like a thin potato chip. Take your friends up the trail, catch an awesome view, and snap a photo or two. It will be an awesome experience to celebrate a day of ‘togetherness’.
